Mask Swap 2002 page 1

GROUP A

"Swaps" are a wonderful way to build a collection. Artists create a number of pieces which are mailed to the organizer--known as the "Swapmeister". Each artist's pieces are distributed among the participants, so that while you send in the required number of items of your own making, you get back one from each participant--and they in turn get one of yours. So, with a group of ten artists, each will end up with one of their own items, and nine other pieces--a splendid way to see what others are doing, and to accumulate some fun pieces of wearable art along the way!! As a member and swapmeister of several miniature mask swaps over the past few years, I have been very pleased with the items I have received in return. Most of the masks from previous rounds have been mounted into a larger wall hanging that is seen in "Create A Polymer Clay Impression". The masks from this swap will also become a larger collective piece--they make such a colorful statement that way! A quick trip onto the scanner first means that I can share the pictures of all the pins and pendants made by these talented artists by putting them here on this webpage. Enjoy looking at our creations. Masks are not shown actual size; but most masks fit inside a 3" x 3" rectangle--part of the swap criteria which helps them all work together as a larger collection.
